Take Time to Review 2017
Just putting a few hours aside to look back on business performance can be really valuable. Often we find it hard to stop and measure how things went when we are in the middle of a busy business. January can be a quiet time, so circle a few hours and review how things went last year. Simple tools like our Free Short Business Assessment can help structure this for you.
Decide On Your Business Goals
Now that you have had a look at last year – what do you want or need to achieve in 2018? Think of a few primary Goals, these could be Financial or Sales targets. Now add in some areas you want to improve on – you need to continuously improve to keep ahead of competitors and let your customers know that you are innovative and keeping things fresh. However remember that if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it – so make sure your target is something you can measure and track.
Track Progress in a Plan
Its often easy to set a target, but over time either forget about it or give up as its difficult to measure. Put a simple Business Action Plan together – list your goals and target dates and measures. Block out time in your calendar every Quarter or Month to sit down and review progress. Remember the Goals are moveable as your business changes so adjust them if necessary whilst keeping them on track.
